Here is an excerpt from my next book about Delmarva: The mule seemed calm enough until Bill entered the small door in the front of the trailer. Shortly thereafter, the mule started kicking and squealing and here it came, shooting out the back with Bill cussing and hanging onto the halter for dear life. As soon as it found purchase with its hind legs, it began to rear up, with Bill clinging to the halter with his rear up in the air. Dad reacted with lightning speed, grabbing the mule by the tail and twisting its rear to keep it from lunging. I stayed out of harm’s way, watching in fascination for the next five minutes as they brought the mule under control. The mule was still bug-eyed and the men red-faced as they maneuvered the animal into the stall and closed the door.
